I have built technic bikes before so I had knowledge of the instructions. My advice a) read all pages first b) look closely at the instructions ( this can sometimes be a stressful build ,) c) look ahead the illustrations are from above and not precise ( which would be better) as an ex technical illustrator more side on might be better. d) make sure you get everything working i.e pistons before putting chain on ( which is impossible without removing part of the side) and make sure all cogs are in the correct positions..very easy to miss one. e ) do not think you are getting the same as the picture on the box. Gold chrome it aint . Highly retouched photo. f) ends up looking great to be honest. Patience required. Oh and the scale is larger than you might think.

Excellent Model indeed, the CIJINAY Motorcycle Model Kits for for Kawasaki H2R is a nice little project for my 11 year old grandson and myself, with 1858 pieces model dimensions of 44.5 x 30.5 x 22 .8cm this is going to be a bit more than his usual builds. Cannot wait to get it started over the weekend.

This is essentially a, pretty much, straight up copy of the LEGO Technic motorcycle range. There are a LOT of similarities here - even the price. This kit currently costs £75.99 and the LEGO Technic sets cost around £75 as well (kits can be found for cheaper when on offer). The internal bike frames on the LEGO Technic sets are green, as is the frame on this one as well. This one has a has a simulated drivetrain, as do the LEGO motorcycles as well. Some of the LEGO ones (the Ducatti) have racing stands. This one has a racing stand. Even the box on this model is similar, with the logo placed in exactly the same place as the LEGO logo in the top left corner of the box. Both logos are incorprated in a red square and both makes have a, largely, black box with an image of the model on the front. The bricks in this model are compatible with LEGO bricks. Whilst the LEGO Technic models state they are for ages 10+, this model claims to be for ages 6+. I have a 5+ boy and he is nowhere near being able to construct a model like this. I would suggest that LEGO is much more accurate with its suitable ages here. Personally, I would say that 6 is far too young for a complex model such as this one. If I’m honest, I struggled with parts of this and I’m 51! There were some particularly fiddly bits - Adding the chain was especially hard. You have to feed the chain into the engine block and around the relevant cog. We worked out that we could use a spare piece to turn the internals and feed the chain around the cog. In terms of size, this is a pretty big build. This is where this model starts to differ from its LEGO rival. The LEGO Technic bikes are a 1:8 build. This model comes in much larger at a 1:5 build. When complete, it measures in at 44.5 x 30.5 x 22 .8cm. There are a total of 1858 pieces in the build compared to around 600 to 700 in the LEGO bike builds. This really is a large and epic build. The instructions do the job, but they aren’t the best. There is so much on a page and it’s a bit easy to miss something and a bit overwhelming. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency in terms of layout. There are different instructional diagrams on each page and these diagrams seem to jump around from page to page - It’s almost as if they are moved around to fit the spacing, rather than remaining in the same place for consistency. This makes it difficult to find the diagram that you’re looking for, as you find your eyes darting around the page to find what you need. The whole thing loses a star for the instructions alone. It took several days to complete the build, but the finished item looks amazing. A real feature for a motorbike fan’s bedroom.
